Honestly this place isn't too bad when you first walk in. Nice cozy place that feels like a local shop, they even promote cutting down on waste by providing discounts on bringing in your own wares. The only qualm I had in my visit was the fact that the only person serving ice cream was literally just coughing...and not even doing the respectable cough away and into your arm. Like right on the ice cream, disgusting. Thought I found the one place I could enjoy gluten free ice cream, nope. It comes with other people's phlegm, what a treat!

Excellent ice cream served in extreme slow motion.

This is and has been a local favorite for years! The flavors are unique and wonderful, the staff is always lovely, it's a real neighborhood institution and it's not hard to understand why. It's not uncommon to see lines out the door during the hotter months and busier times of day, but the staff keeps things moving in an efficient and timely matter. They're even committed to going green!Just bring cash before hand as they don't take cards! (it's so worth it you won't even care).

Organic housemade ice creams. Large variety of yummy seasonal flavors. Make their own waffle comes as well. I had the split flavor single cone. Strawberry maple pecan. Son the double coffee yummy peach berry.

Fairfax Scoop is a local institution. Great ice cream, great flavors, great prices. Mocha chip was really delicious, made even better with from scratch waffle cones. There is a reason for that 4.9 rating, should be 5. I highly recommend this business

Little Mom and Pop ice cream place. In opinion they have a really good ice cream. This place is really small and like what other reviews says, it could get really packed and lines are long. But that only means that the products their selling is good. They have interesting flavors to choose from, not just like your typical ice cream shop. There was a flavor that really stood out to us. I can't remember exactly the name, but its chocolate base and it has a big hint of spiciness after taste. It was something different, but its really good. If you happen to be in Fairfax, you should check this place out.

When we went they had a sorbet (which was really good) and one other vegan flavor.

The ice cream is delicious. The cones are hand made and simply scrumptious! 5 stars here!!

Delicious ice cream made with Strauss Dairy, the first organic dairy farm in the US. Fairfax Scoop bakes their waffle cones fresh and it's delicious!

A community staple... A tiny hole in the wall that has drawn a crowd since it opened about 10 years ago, even in the middle of winter!They make all flavors in house using Strauss dairy... Super high quality ingredients that you can taste. I miss the green tea flavor, but there are always so many delicious flavors, is hard to choose!

Stay far far away from this place!! HORRIBLE customer service..would NEVER go back here.

WORST customer service experience!!! From a guy named Ray who claimed to be the owner, said.. they did not need local support because they were already "very busy." Tried to order ice cream for delivery but l dont live in the area, so was told they dont need my support. I have been going to the Arcata Scoop for years l have been a faithful customer and l love supporting you guys. So Disappointing!!!!

Very busy all the time. A hole in the wall but crazy busy. Line out the door most of the time. They have fresh new flavors almost every week from local farms of milk and fruits.

Homemade happiness on a cone

I love this place. Some of the best ice cream around, created by a very warm and caring man, at amazingly reasonable prices. My favorite is Chocolate Grasshopper, but all the flavors are outstanding. Many ingredients are locally sourced as well, so it feels like a true community spot.

Great prices and ice cream ensure a line out the door on a hot day. Good selection too ie: bittersweet chocolate and chili and earl grey tea.

The line out the door attests to popularity of this establishment. Everything is home made including their fabulous waffle cones. If you find yourself in Fairfax this is a must do stop... If not, it is worth the trip.

Fairfax Scoop has a great collection of creative flavors and old standards. Awesome vanilla, which makes a great base for cookie dough. Tonight's experimental flavor was Earl Grey, complete with bergamot aromatics. Something for everyone here, starting at less than two bucks for a kids' cone. Waffle cones made in front of you as you wait.

It is a cute little shop, and has big variety of flavors. It's trendy and almost always packed. They also have fresh baked waffle cones and bowls every day. Definitely 5 stars

So creamy! Most of the flavors are fantastic, with a few exceptions that are just alright. I got the vanilla honey lavender and chai, as well as the strawberry and roasted hazelnut. The vanilla honey lavender, chai, and strawberry were all amazing - it was very clear that they’d never been frozen and it was some of the freshest ice cream I’ve ever had. The hazelnut was underwhelming, but that’s just my taste. I wasn’t a huge fan of the cones by comparison, but they’re by no means bad.Great place! Stop by if you’re in the area.

The wait in line was totally worth the most amazing vanilla honey lavender ice cream. The staff was friendly, the prices good. I am so sad I live so far away from this amazing place, but will definitely be back when I am in the area.

Scoop is awesome, but if there's more that two people there the wait can be long. That's part of the magic though; a lot of time, care, and thought goes into producing really amazing ice cream, and they make sure if you're unsure, that you can give the flavors a try without feeling pressed to decide.

Great handmade local ice cream. Lines can get long, but it's worth it. The business is zero waste so if you want your scoop in a cup, borrow one from the shop and return or bring your own.

Do you like iced creams? They have them here. It's a difficult process to take different creams, like mint chocolate chip or Eric Clapton's Band, and freeze them. You have to do it different for each kind. Eric Clapton was in love with Ringo's wife and she left Ringo for him. Somehow that didn't freeze their friendship. Celebrities, amirite?

Awesome icecream with some unique flavors. They are zero waste so if you get your ice cream in a waffle bone you need your own spoon unless you eat there

Awesome and delicious ice cream. Unfortunately they don't believe in air conditioning in the building so on hot days it's actually hotter inside than out. However, ice cream trumps all hardships.

A friend of mine once came here every day for a week until they had Lemon Poppyseed because it’s so delicious! (Yes, we bought something different every day!)
